Elon Musk Reveals Upcoming Ad-Free, Premium Version of Social Media Platform

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company is working on a higher-priced, ad-free version of the platform, known as Twitter Blue. The new subscription plan is a response to user complaints about the frequency and size of ads on the platform, and it is expected to offer a more seamless and enjoyable experience for users. However, the company has not yet disclosed any specific details about the ad-free plan, such as its price or launch date.

Twitter Blue, the company’s existing subscription service, underwent a major overhaul after Musk acquired the company. The service, which costs $8 per month on the web or $11 on iOS or Android, offers a number of premium features, including a blue checkmark, bookmark folders, custom app icons, app themes, a customizable navigation bar, and the ability to undo tweets. It is likely that the ad-free version of Twitter Blue will include all of these features, but as the company no longer has a communications team, it’s unclear what exactly the service will offer until it’s officially released.

Additionally, Twitter CEO also admitted that advertisements on the platform are “too frequent” and “too big”, and the company is planning to address these issues in the coming weeks.

It’s worth noting that when Twitter introduced the $8 plan, the company promised to provide subscribers with “50% fewer ads than non-verified people,” but this feature has yet to be implemented, and as a result, current subscribers are seeing just as many ads as anyone else.

Prior to this, it was relatively easy to avoid ads on Twitter by using a third-party client such as Twitterific or Tweetbot, but this is no longer an option after Twitter effectively banned third-party apps by cutting off their access to the platform’s API.
