E-Shop Update Sparking Speculation of Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Release Date Announcement

If reports that the game’s Nintendo Switch eShop profile has just been modified are to be believed, the Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp remake compilation could be released soon. Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem studio’s Advance Wars is a popular first-party strategy game series. A new Advance Wars hasn’t been released since 2008, when it was first released on Nintendo’s handheld platforms. Third-party WayForward’s Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp may be the beginning step toward something new.

The unexpected delay of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp in 2022 hampered the momentum for the tactics game’s release. Nintendo delayed the game’s release date to April 8, 2022, due to the situation in Ukraine and Advance Wars’ military themes. In September 2022, Nintendo announced that the release of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp had not been cancelled, but that a fresh release date had yet to be determined. Since then, fans have been waiting for an update.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp could have a new release date soon. According to a Nintendo Switch eShop scraper, the entry for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has been updated. Although no significant information regarding the game or its release date has changed, the update may hint that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will be available for pre-order soon. A similar adjustment was made to the eShop website for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

It’s worth noting that while individuals who had previously pre-ordered Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp were alerted of the game’s delay, some also received news of an updated release date. The release date was set for February 24, 2023. However, that release date was provided by shops rather than Nintendo, and retailers are sometimes untrustworthy sources of release information. Nonetheless, given the recent eShop update, it’s an intriguing coincidence.

For the time being, the prospect of an updated Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp release date or re-opening pre-orders should be treated as a rumour at best. The battle in Ukraine is still ongoing and severe, which may prevent the game from being released.

In 2023, Nintendo has yet to hold a Direct event. However, it is difficult to forecast when these presentations may occur. If both Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp and the upcoming Zelda game were just updated in the Switch eShop, it’s possible that a Nintendo Direct is on the way. If a Nintendo Direct for early 2023 is revealed, Advance Wars fans can probably start getting enthusiastic again.
