Some of these electric cars (EVs) were “in transit at the end of the quarter,” according to the carmaker, and they “have been ordered and will be delivered to consumers upon arrival at their destination.” Tesla also states that “securing car transportation capacity and at a fair rate during these peak logistical weeks” has been problematic, which is why some of the EVs have yet to be delivered.
Musk instructed staff last year to stop pushing to expand quarterly deliveries and instead concentrate on reducing transportation costs. Musk reinforced that view in a response to a Twitter user who requested Musk to elaborate on the issues Tesla encounters with vehicle transportation.
