Domino’s Launches Pinpoint Delivery: Pizza Delivery to Almost Anywhere

To utilize this service, customers are required to pre-pay for their order online and agree to receive text updates regarding their driver’s status. Similar to regular deliveries, customers can track the delivery person’s GPS location. However, cash payments upon arrival will not be accepted. Instead, customers can activate a “visual signal” on their phone, similar to popular ride-hailing services, to alert and identify the driver for a smooth pickup experience.

Domino’s claims to be the first “quick-service” restaurant chain in the US to offer GPS pin-based deliveries. Although the category may be narrow, other delivery apps like Instacart offer the option to modify the location once an address is chosen. Nonetheless, Domino’s is banking on the innovative rideshare-style approach to delivery to attract more customers. By offering pizza virtually anywhere, not just at home or the office, the company aims to cater to tech enthusiasts and customers seeking convenience and novelty.
