Dodge Unveils Next-Gen Charger: Gas-Powered and All-Electric Models Set to Thrill Muscle Car Enthusiasts

Get ready, muscle car fans – Dodge is revving up to unveil the next generation of its iconic Charger, and this time there’s a big twist. For the first time ever, the Charger will be offered in both gas-powered and all-electric versions when it debuts tomorrow.

That’s right, the quintessential American muscle car is going green, at least partially. Dodge is embracing the electric vehicle revolution by introducing an EV variant of the Charger alongside the traditional internal combustion engine model.

Now before you die-hard gearheads have a conniption – yes, this unfortunately means the beloved HEMI V8 engine won’t be an option anymore. But Dodge claims the electric Charger will still pack a serious performance punch.

They’re calling the high-performance electric variant the “SRT Banshee,” and it will feature an 800-volt all-wheel drive system that Dodge says will actually exceed the power of the current top-dog Hellcat models while improving all-weather capability.

From the teaser images, the new Charger looks to be taking some serious design cues from the menacing Charger Daytona SRT electric concept car they showed off last year. The sleek, futuristic body is optimized for aerodynamics but keeps some throwback muscle car flair.

Dodge is touting some fancy new tech features for the electric Charger too, like an “R-Wing” design that improves aerodynamics, a beefy “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” system to recreate that muscle car rumble even without exhaust, and something called “eRupt” that simulates the shifting experience of a gas transmission.

As for the gas-powered variants, they’ll be packing Dodge’s new Hurricane straight-six engine, which is expected to put out around 500 horsepower – plenty of grunt to keep the V8 fans somewhat appeased.

No official pricing yet, but analysts expect the 2025 Charger lineup to start around $50,000 for base models and stretch up into the $90,000 range for the top electric performance trims when it arrives in late 2024.

So get ready for a thunderous arrival – Dodge’s new gas and electric Chargers are about to merge American muscle car madness with sustainable electric power. Just don’t show up expecting to hear that classic HEMI roar anymore.
