Eurogamer spilled the beans straight from Digital Extremes, and they didn’t sugarcoat it: “We’re pulling the plug on our external projects division.” Translation: some awesome folks who poured their heart and soul into these projects are feeling the hit. Tough call, but hey, the gaming world isn’t all high scores and power-ups.
Now, the burning question: How many gaming minds are caught in this storm? Digital Extremes is playing coy with the numbers, leaving us in suspense. But guess what? They’re not the only ones playing the layoff card. Epic Games, the Fortnite legends, gave the boot to over 800 of their crew a while back. Bungie, the Destiny 2 crew, Ubisoft, and even CD Projekt Red, the genius minds behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, all took a hit.
