Destiny 2 players and the game’s development team have faced a challenging week filled with disruptions. DDoS attacks have intermittently taken the popular sci-fi shooter offline for extended periods, and players have encountered a slew of connection errors, peculiar bugs, and glitches over the weekend.
While Bungie, the game’s developer, has confirmed maintenance over the weekend, it has not officially addressed the ongoing issues that have been affecting players. However, several players have taken to platforms like Reddit and Destiny’s social media channels to report a variety of unusual occurrences, including unresponsive doors, stagnant PvP scores, and enemies that seem to adopt a pacifist stance.
As one Reddit user, u/Indecisive_um, highlighted on the Destiny subreddit earlier today, “the game is currently broken, it’s not just you.”
“If you’re trying to use interactions but can’t or doors aren’t opening, don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s everyone,” wrote Indecisive_um, one of many players drawing attention to the ongoing issues. “It seems that something has broken significantly in the game, and some of the following issues have emerged.”
The post then enumerates several problems that players have reported today, including:
- Doors not opening for any activity, including Savathun’s Spire, Dungeons like Prophecy or Shattered Throne, and even the Helm.
- Most, if not all, interactions not functioning correctly, such as the Chalice of Light in Crotas End or the rally flag for public events.
- Enemies exhibiting unusual behavior to the extent that they appear invulnerable and fail to engage with players.
“I’m sure there’s more going on that I haven’t listed, but I wanted to share this information for anyone wondering what’s happening,” the original post stated. “In the meantime, it might be a good idea to play another game while Bungie attempts to address the issue, or do what I’m doing and get a chance to observe some of these enemies up close in their natural habitat.”
Although many issues appear to have been resolved, some players have reported ongoing problems even after Bungie’s background maintenance earlier today.
Last week, Bungie announced its decision to temporarily disable players from using crafted weapons in response to another in-game glitch.
Acknowledging that players were able to imbue Legendary guns with Exotic traits, effectively bypassing the game’s standard balance systems and enabling the use of three exotic weapons simultaneously, Bungie confirmed it was “working on two fixes” to rectify the issue.
The first solution involved a server-side update that disabled the use of all crafted weapons, followed by addressing “illegal” weapons by resetting them “to a default state.”
Earlier this week, Bungie declared this issue “now resolved,” stating that “illegitimate frames and perks on crafted weapons have been replaced by legitimate ones.” Additionally, the developer cautioned that any players attempting to exploit the previous crafting loophole would receive a WEASEL error code and be returned to the login screen.
