A Bungie job offering in April 2022 indicated that the firm was working on a new third-person action game. Later that month, another job post said that the firm was hard at work on a mobile game engine, implying some sort of entry into the mobile gaming sector.
A few months later, in October 2022, a rumour stated Bungie was bringing back the classic shooter Marathon as their first post-Destiny game for a fresh audience. According to the rumour, which was subsequently confirmed by another writer, the new shooter will play similarly to Escape From Tarkov, with teams of gamers battling for treasure as well as each other.
