Dbrand, the genius behind those cool “transparent” Teardown products, just dropped a legal bomb on Casetify, claiming they copied their brainchild designs. You know, those cases and skins that give you a peek into the inner workings of your gadgets. It’s a tech lover’s dream come true. Dbrand, in cahoots with Zack “JerryRigEverything” Nelson, spilled the beans, accusing Casetify of hijacking their mojo for the “Inside Out” line.
The drama unfolded on X (formerly Twitter), where Nelson showcased the alleged misdeeds. Apparently, Casetify not only bungled the masking game but also flunked Print Quality 101, according to the accusers. Oh, and to add a cherry on top, they claim Casetify’s Inside Out lineup features an unexpected cameo – Dbrand’s logo.
How did this legal tussle begin, you ask? Well, it all started with an X user pointing out that Casetify goofed up by selling a “transparent” case for a Samsung phone that hilariously showcased the insides of an iPhone. Dbrand couldn’t resist a cheeky jab. Fast forward, Casetify drops the Inside Out bomb, which, according to Dbrand and Nelson, looks like a Xerox of their Teardown babies. Now, they’ve taken this tech soap opera to a Toronto court, slapping Casetify with a lawsuit for allegedly copying 45 Inside Out products.
What is making the case a lot more against Casetify is that, the moment they received the lawsuit, they promptly took down their Inside Out products from threir website. However, a lot of people reported that physical sales are still on and thhat Casetify should recall the Inside Out skins that are unsold and return the money back to the resellers.
