Daniel Ricciardo expressed his frustration after the Hungarian Grand Prix as he believed that without the collision with Zhou Guanyu at the start, he could have finished in the top 10 and scored points. Ricciardo’s race was impacted by Zhou hitting the back of his AlphaTauri, which also resulted in a double retirement for the Alpine team.
Despite the incident, Ricciardo managed to recover and finish in 13th place. He inspected the car after the race and found some damage to the diffuser but nothing that severely affected the car’s performance. However, he acknowledged that the AlphaTauri is currently one of the slower cars on the grid, which makes scoring points a more challenging task.
The Hungarian Grand Prix was Ricciardo’s first race back on the Formula 1 grid after joining AlphaTauri for the remainder of the 2023 season, taking the seat previously held by Nyck de Vries. He showed promising pace in qualifying, outqualifying his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, and was disappointed that the collision prevented him from potentially achieving a better result in the race.
