Creative Cables brings its Ghost Line modular bulbs to the U.S. via Kickstarter

Creative Cables is testing the U.S. appetite for design-forward lighting with a new product line called Ghost Line. The company has put the bulbs on Kickstarter, with shipping and broader availability expected in May.

The pitch is simple: instead of a bulb that glows from a central filament, Ghost Line tries to make the light source disappear. The glass itself is part of the trick, pushing light to the edges so it looks like it’s coming from the bulb’s outline rather than a bright hotspot in the middle.

That’s paired with a modular angle that’s becoming more common in consumer tech — even when the product lives in your ceiling. The line is meant to be mixed and matched, and the company says the components are designed to be repairable, not disposable.

What’s actually launching? The Ghost Line lineup includes multiple bulb shapes (including a double-cone form and truncated cones) designed by Guido Parenzan, who has worked on product development for established lighting and housewares brands. Creative Cables’ CEO Luca Novarino also points to the design philosophy behind the range in a short explainer video shared with the press.

Why this matters

Smart home has trained people to think about lighting in terms of apps and automation, but most bulbs still look and age like cheap consumables. A more repairable, design-led bulb isn’t going to replace your Wi?Fi LEDs, but it’s a reminder that “consumer tech” also includes the objects you live with every day — especially if a Kickstarter campaign is the easiest path to U.S. distribution.

About the company: Creative Cables is an Italian lighting brand best known for its decorative cables, sockets, and fixtures, and it’s now pushing further into finished lighting products with Ghost Line.
