Coolfly to Launch Personal eVTOL at CES 2026

At CES 2026, a company called Coolfly Aircraft is attempting to change this by launching its new generation of ultralight electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Unlike larger air taxis that require professional pilots and specific airports, the Coolfly vehicle is designed for the individual. It targets a specific height of zero to 30 meters above the ground, creating a new way to move around without needing a pilot’s license.

We can finally fly without a license

The biggest barrier to personal flight has always been the requirement for a pilot’s license, which takes a lot of time and money to earn. Coolfly has avoided this problem by building its aircraft to fit into a specific legal category known as FAA Part 103 for ultralight vehicles. To stay in this category, the aircraft must be very light. The Coolfly eVTOL has a net weight of only 110 kilograms, which is about 242 pounds.

Because it meets these weight requirements, the FAA allows people to fly it for personal use without a formal license. This opens the door for regular people to use the aircraft for short trips, sightseeing, or even just for fun. While it is light, it is also capable. The vehicle can carry one person weighing up to 110 kilograms and reach a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour. This makes it a practical tool for moving across a busy city or navigating difficult terrain where there are no roads.

How does AI assist in the flying process?

Controlling a traditional aircraft is very difficult because there are many buttons, levers, and dials to manage. Coolfly has replaced these complicated controls with a new system called AI Gravity-Sensing Flight Control. Instead of using a joystick, the pilot can steer the aircraft simply by shifting their body weight or using intuitive hand movements. The company describes this as a “human-machine-as-one” experience, where the aircraft reacts to your natural instincts.

The onboard AI also handles the most dangerous parts of flying. It includes a smart path planning system that automatically looks for obstacles like trees, buildings, or power lines and moves the aircraft out of the way. If a pilot makes a mistake, the AI can step in to stabilize the vehicle. This technology is essential for making personal flight safe for people who have never been in a cockpit before. It allows the user to focus on where they want to go while the computer handles the complicated physics of staying in the air.

What about the power and safety features?

Safety is the most important part of any flying machine. Coolfly uses an enclosed propfan system, which means the spinning blades are hidden inside a protective ring. This prevents the blades from hitting objects and protects people on the ground. The aircraft also features a dual-redundant system. This means it has two of every important computer sensor. If one sensor fails, the second one takes over immediately so the aircraft can land safely.

The vehicle is powered entirely by electricity, meaning it produces zero emissions during flight. To make it useful for daily life, Coolfly has included fast charging technology similar to what you find in electric cars. This allows the battery to be topped up quickly between trips. The frame is built using aerospace-grade materials that are both incredibly strong and very light, ensuring the aircraft can handle the stresses of takeoff and landing while staying under the legal weight limit.

How high will you be able to fly?

While other companies are building “flying buses” to carry many people across long distances, Coolfly is focused on “low-altitude” trips. This refers to the space just above the rooftops, up to 30 meters high. This space is currently empty, and Coolfly believes it is the perfect place for personal commuting. The aircraft can take off and land vertically from small spaces, so it does not need a runway.

Beyond just commuting, the company sees many uses for this technology. It could be used by emergency teams to reach people in flooded areas, by security teams to patrol large properties, or by tourists to get a better view of famous landmarks. The goal is to make the aircraft as common and easy to use as a bicycle. By keeping the maintenance costs low and the operation simple, Coolfly is trying to turn personal flight into a normal part of the modern world.

When will this release?

Coolfly will officially debut its latest eVTOL models at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The event runs from January 6 to January 9, 2026. Attendees can visit the company at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), North Hall, Booth #11040, to see both the standing and seated versions of the aircraft.
