Compal Infinite Laptop

Compal’s Infinite Laptop Concept Dazzles at CES 2025 with Rollable Ultrawide Display

Meet the Compal Infinite Laptop, a head-turning concept that’s already bagged an iF Design Award in 2025—despite still being in the prototype phase. Unveiled alongside Lenovo’s rollable ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 at CES 2025, this machine doesn’t just flirt with innovation; it wraps its entire identity around it.

While Lenovo is aiming skyward with a vertical screen expansion from 14 inches to 16.7 inches (triggered with a simple button press), Compal flips the script—literally. Its approach is horizontal, expanding a modest 14-inch display into an immersive, 18-inch ultrawide canvas. Traders, multitaskers, and digital tinkerers, are you watching?

When extended, the Infinite Laptop feels like a workstation masquerading as a minimalist machine. And that expansion mechanism? Sleek. Seamless. Almost hypnotic. It manages to add real estate without dragging down portability—an elusive balance most devices dream of but rarely achieve.

There’s a curious elegance to the concept. No distinct touchpad in sight. Instead, a faint, almost ethereal glow hints at its presence. It’s minimalism taken seriously—but not coldly. For coders and designers, this subtle cue might feel more intuitive than the traditional trackpad ever did. Could this be the future of laptop navigation?

The Infinite Laptop’s lid is said to host an LED notification strip—a low-key yet highly functional detail (which is very rare to see in laptops today might I add), that whispers system alerts without demanding attention. It’s these thoughtful, almost poetic touches that elevate the laptop from just another concept to something genuinely visionary.

Let’s not forget the competition. This year’s iF Design Awards weren’t playing around—nearly 11,000 entries from 66 countries, judged by 131 global experts. That’s a battlefield. And the Infinite Laptop carved out its spotlight in the chaos, standing tall (or wide?) among giants.

Too early to say if this is going ot be the next workhorse laptop that you will find being distributed in companies worldwide, but one thing that we definitely cannot ignore, is that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and it is going to set off a new wave of innovations which will keep the laptop market flying for years to come. Would you be interested in using a laptop like this? Or, are you someone who is more conventional when it comes to your computers? Let me know!!
