Developer Colossal Order has rolled out a new hotfix, Patch 1.0.12f1, for Cities: Skylines 2, aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. While not a major update, it brings a series of tweaks, bug fixes, and a notable change – the removal of an “offensive” radio ad.
The hotfix primarily focuses on improving in-game systems and balance, with the following key changes:
1. Balance Improvements: The update enhances the balance of companies’ profits, making the in-game economy more engaging and authentic.
2. Increased Leisure Probability: To address the “No customers” issue with commercial companies, the hotfix increases leisure probability, ensuring that businesses have an adequate customer base.
3. Improved Conditions for Bankruptcy: Companies facing financial difficulties will have better conditions for moving away when they go bankrupt, contributing to the realism of the game.
4. Technical Optimizations: Several technical adjustments have been made, such as optimizing area lights, enhancing shadow calculations, and reducing unnecessary large character textures to improve overall performance.
The patch also addresses various bugs and issues, including fixing a trade resource problem, resolving a dependency error related to land value, and correcting miscalculations in college and university eligible counts.
Notably, the developer has removed a radio ad featuring offensive content. While some users expressed concerns about political agendas, Colossal Order clarified that the decision to remove the ad was based on its commitment to creating a welcoming gaming environment for all players.
The hotfix is already available on Steam, although it may take some time for the fixes to take effect for players continuing with existing save files.
