Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is receiving negative feedback on Steam and the review aggregation site Metacritic. On November 16, Activision and Infinity Ward released the long-awaited Call of Duty: Warzone 2 battle royale. While there have been some snags, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has been viewed more positively than the Caldera map and has been lauded by some as a return to form for Warzone. Others, on the other hand, have been less excited about the game.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Steam page, as well as its multiple Metacritic listings, have been inundated with negative user reviews. At the time of writing, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has received a “Mostly Negative” rating from over 7,600 people. The PC version of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has a Metacritic user rating of 2.6, with 20 bad reviews and just four good reviews. The PS5 version’s Metacritic page tells a similar narrative.
Many of the same criticisms can be found in the poor reviews for Call of Duty: Warzone 2. PC players seem to be dissatisfied with Call of Duty: Warzone 2 controller users having aim assist, claiming it gives them an unfair edge. Others are dissatisfied with the user interface and loot system in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Others continue to dislike Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map, have had technical issues in accessing the game, or are upset that the original Call of Duty: Warzone servers are unavailable until November 28. These angry gamers have been showering 0/10 ratings on Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
A recurring motif in these unfavourable reviews is admitting to having only played a few Warzone 2 matches, which some may say is insufficient to adequately rate the game’s quality. Regardless, it will be fascinating to watch how Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is received over time. Many games have recovered from review bombing operations, moving from “Mostly Negative” to “Positive” overall ratings, but it remains to be seen whether Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will follow in their footsteps.
In the next months, Activision and Infinity Ward will update the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 battle royale many times, changing improvements based on user input and introducing new content. It’s conceivable that adjustments may be made to Warzone 2’s poor UI, which would fix one of the game’s major faults.
