Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay Footage Sparks Rumors of New Warzone Map

Did the latest gameplay reveal show more than intended?

Rumors are swirling that Sledgehammer Games may have inadvertently showcased parts of a new Warzone map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 during a recent gameplay reveal. While the spotlight has mainly been on the game’s single-player component, eagle-eyed players speculate that the upcoming Warzone map could have made a brief appearance.

Set to continue the narrative from 2022’s Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will reintroduce the iconic villain, Vladimir Makarov. Players will witness the culmination of events set in motion by Makarov, with Task Force 141 intensifying their pursuit of the antagonist as he conspires to unleash World War 3 alongside his military faction, the Konni Group.

In addition to the game’s linear missions, the reveal also highlighted Open Combat Missions. It is during these showcases that players believe the new Warzone map may have been unintentionally revealed.

YouTuber JGOD has fueled these rumors, asserting that insiders who have purportedly viewed the new map informed him that the Modern Warfare 3 single-player reveal at Gamescom 2023 displayed some of its distinct locations. With a new map usually launching with every new Call of Duty iteration since 2019’s Modern Warfare, these speculations aren’t entirely baseless.

Numerous players have taken to social media to corroborate JGOD’s claims, suggesting that the displayed clips unintentionally spotlighted segments of the new map. Some even argue that glimpses of Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies mode could be teasing this new Warzone map, especially given the open-world nature of the Zombies mode.

However, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. As of now, Sledgehammer Games has not confirmed any plans to launch a new Warzone map alongside Modern Warfare 3. Fans hope that the upcoming Call of Duty Next event in October, which is set to focus on multiplayer aspects, may shed more light on these speculations.

It remains to be seen whether Sledgehammer Games will uphold the tradition of releasing a new Warzone map in tandem with a new game or if they’ll deviate from this established pattern.
