Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Beta’s Second Weekend Introduces New Maps and Game Modes

Beta Update Brings Extra Content, UI Improvements, and Weapon Balancing

The second beta weekend for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023) is underway, and it comes with significant changes to enhance the gameplay experience. This update introduces fresh content, balances weapons, and enhances the user interface.

Players diving into the beta now have access to two additional maps: Highrise and Orlov Military Base (Ground War). Moreover, the Search and Destroy mode and the all-new 3v3v3 mode, Cutthroat, are now available for testing. The level cap has also been raised to 30, providing dedicated players with more equipment and weapons to experiment with.

In this beta update, several notable changes have been made to the user interface and experience. Players will now receive playlist update notifications while navigating menus, and a missing icon for the SVA 545’s Incursion XII Long Barrel Attachment has been addressed. To aid in spotting enemy operators, they now have red nameplates above their heads, making them stand out more clearly.

If you participated in the beta during the first weekend, you might observe alterations in the strength and behavior of certain weapons. The Tac-Stance spread while sliding has been reduced for various weapon categories, including pistols, marksman rifles, light machine guns, assault rifles, and submachine guns. Specific adjustments have been made to the Striker submachine gun, including reductions in minimum damage, near-medium damage, medium damage, and far-medium damage. Range for near-medium and medium damage has also been decreased, but headshot damage and lower-arm damage multipliers have been increased.

Operators’ movement animations should now display correctly after respawning, and the slide to sprint delay has been reduced to 200ms.

Furthermore, this update addresses crashes, adds collision to certain areas in the Estate and Popov Power (Ground War) maps, and resolves an issue where players were immediately killed after respawning near the yellow car in the Side Street of the Favela map. The Guardian-SC Killstreak now has reduced health and a halved lifetime, and vehicles in Ground War no longer have limited fuel. Lastly, the overhead camera sequence that occurred upon respawn in the Hardpoint mode has been removed.

The second weekend of the Modern Warfare 3 beta is accessible to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players. Those who pre-ordered on PC via Battle.net gained early access starting on October 12, while the open cross-play beta is set to begin on October 14, allowing everyone to join in the action.

This beta update not only adds fresh content but also fine-tunes the gameplay experience, addressing various issues and enhancing overall balance. Players can look forward to exploring the new maps, modes, and improved user interface in this exciting Call of Duty experience.
