Man, Charles Leclerc must’ve been thinking, “Why does this bad luck always find me?” A hydraulics glitch threw a major wrench into his Brazilian Grand Prix plans, sending him into the barriers during the formation lap.
You can imagine, Leclerc had his eyes set on the podium, but things went south before the race even kicked off. Instead of smoothly slotting into P2, he found himself in a wild spin, crashing into the tire barriers at Turn 7.
In the heat of the moment, a frustrated Leclerc radioed in, “Noooooo……I lost the hydraulics. Why the fck am I so unlucky. Why the fck am I so unlucky!” Poor guy.
While the marshals did their thing with the stricken Ferrari, the race started, but chaos quickly followed. The Safety Car made an early appearance on lap 1, and then came the red flags. Kevin Magnussen and Alex Albon collided at Turn 1, taking both of them out. Oscar Piastri got a broken rear wing, and Daniel Ricciardo ended up with a banged-up AlphaTauri.
With the tire barriers needing some TLC, the red flags waved, putting the race on pause. Talking to Sky F1, Leclerc spilled the beans on the warning signs leading up to his spin, but he kept tight-lipped about the nitty-gritty details. When asked if it was the same hydraulics issue as Carlos Sainz faced in Mexican Grand Prix practice, Leclerc played it cool, saying, “I haven’t gone into details with the guys, but what they’ve seen is completely different. It’s not what happened to Carlos.”
