Among BMW’s array of sporty X models, the recently introduced X2 in the M35i specification has emerged as a standout. While it’s primarily designed for on-road performance, it has undergone a noteworthy transformation to compete in the Rebelle Rally, an eight-day off-road competition that unfolds over 1,300 miles through challenging terrain in the deserts of California and Nevada.
To adapt the M35i for this demanding rally, extensive modifications were made. Although it doesn’t sport portal axles or a massive suspension lift, the changes are substantial. Notable upgrades include Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, Rotiform ZMO-M wheels, and underbody protection with a skid plate.
