Beelink releases a compact NAS that rivals the Mac Studio in size

Beelink, a company known for making small computers, has launched a new storage device called the ME Pro. This device is a type of “Network Attached Storage” (NAS), which is essentially a private hard drive that connects to your home internet so you can access your files from anywhere. What makes the ME Pro unusual is its size and power. It measures 166 x 121 x 112mm, making it only slightly taller than an Apple Mac Studio, yet it is designed to hold a massive amount of data. By combining two large 30TB hard drives with three 8TB high-speed solid-state drives (SSDs), the system can reach a total capacity of 84TB.

One of the most unique features of the ME Pro is its modular design. Most computers have their parts permanently attached to a single frame, but the ME Pro uses a pull-out drawer at the bottom. This drawer contains the motherboard, the brain (CPU), and the memory. This allows a user to “swap” the entire computer part of the device without having to buy a new storage box. Beelink has stated that while the first models use Intel chips, they are preparing boards that use ARM and AMD processors as well. This means you could start with a low-power system to save electricity and later upgrade to a more powerful one if your needs change.

How does this modular system work?

The modularity of the ME Pro is designed to make the device last longer. In the past, if the processor in your NAS became too slow for new software, you would have to throw the whole machine away. With the ME Pro, you can simply slide out the old motherboard tray and slide in a new one with a better processor. This helps reduce “technical debt,” which is the cost of keeping old, slow equipment running. It also makes the device easier to clean; if dust builds up inside, you can remove the main components in seconds to wipe them down.

The device also includes fast networking ports to handle the large amount of data it can store. It features one 5GbE (5 Gigabit Ethernet) port and one 2.5GbE port. This allows the NAS to send and receive files much faster than a standard office computer, which usually only has a 1GbE port. These high speeds are necessary for people who want to stream 4K movies or edit large video files directly from the server. By using an all-metal “unibody” frame, Beelink has also kept the device quiet, as the metal helps soak up the vibration and heat from the large hard drives.

How does the ME Pro compare with its competitors?

When looking at the ME Pro, many people compare it to the Mac Studio because of its sleek, square shape. However, the Mac Studio is a high-performance computer for editing, while the ME Pro is a storage specialist. The ME Pro is intended for people who want a “private cloud” at home, so they do not have to pay monthly fees to companies like Google or Dropbox. It is much smaller than traditional NAS towers from companies like Synology, which are often twice as big and cannot be easily upgraded.

There is some debate among tech experts about whether the device is “too expensive.” While the starting price is lower than some competitors, those competitors often include their own special software. The Beelink ME Pro comes with Windows 11 Home, but it is “OS agnostic,” meaning you have to install your own specialized NAS software (like TrueNAS or Unraid) if you want advanced server features. For some users, this extra work makes the price feel high, while for others, the ability to upgrade the hardware makes it a better long-term value.

Release date and pricing information

The Beelink ME Pro is currently available for pre-order, with shipping scheduled to begin in late January 2026. The starting price for the base model, which includes an Intel N95 processor, 12GB of memory, and a 128GB system drive, is $369. Higher-end versions with the Intel N150 processor and more storage are priced between $529 and $559.

These prices do not include the large 30TB hard drives or 8TB SSDs needed to reach the 84TB limit; those must be purchased separately. Currently, 30TB hard drives are specialized pieces of hardware that can cost several hundred dollars each. For a standard home user, filling the ME Pro with more common 12TB or 16TB drives would still provide a large amount of storage for a much lower total cost.
