Larian Studios has just made a thrilling announcement for Baldur’s Gate 3 players: the ability to change their character’s appearance is finally coming in patch 3.
In a recent update, the developer confirmed that the highly-anticipated patch would be released on September 22, a slight delay from the initial schedule alongside full Mac support. Larian described it as a “big one,” sparking curiosity and speculation among players.
The excitement didn’t last long, as Larian Studios took to Twitter to reveal one of the standout features of patch 3: the Magic Mirror. This magical addition, found in your camp, empowers you to alter your character’s appearance, including voice and pronouns.
However, there are a few constraints to keep in mind when using the Magic Mirror. Players won’t have the freedom to change their character’s race and body type at will. So, if you’re a Tiefling, you won’t be transforming into a High Elf on a whim.
Additionally, the Magic Mirror won’t work its magic on the appearance of Origins, the core party members you can select to play as at the beginning of the game, such as Astarion, Shadowheart, and Karlach. Larian offered a playful explanation, joking that “they’re all very particular about their hair,” which means you won’t be seeing a bald Gale anytime soon.
The introduction of the Magic Mirror fulfills a long-standing request from the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, following the game’s initial PC launch. While players have resorted to mods to tweak their characters’ appearances, the official character editor tool is finally arriving with patch 3.
For players eagerly awaiting the chance to fine-tune their character’s looks and personalize their Tav, the Magic Mirror in patch 3 brings exciting prospects and a fresh layer of customization to the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
