Exciting news for PlayStation 5 players – Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally here, but there’s a catch. The highly-anticipated RPG is now accessible to those who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition, providing a taste of the epic adventure.
Baldur’s Gate 3, the sequel to a game released in 2000, has been a long time coming. PC players received their turn to embark on this massive RPG journey last month and have been immersed in its world for a few weeks.
Console players, particularly those on PlayStation 5, have exercised patience. While Xbox enthusiasts will have to wait a couple more months before they can join in (with an expected release on Xbox Series X/S later this year), Sony console owners can finally experience what all the buzz is about. Larian Studios’ much-anticipated RPG is now accessible to players who pre-ordered the game’s pricier collector’s editions – the Collector’s Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Similar to its PC counterpart, the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is initially available in early access. As is customary during this phase, players may encounter occasional quirks and issues as the development team works diligently to eliminate bugs and enhance the gameplay experience.
For PS5 players who didn’t opt for the collector’s editions, the wait isn’t much longer. Baldur’s Gate 3 will be available for purchase by all PS5 players starting September 6.
As for Xbox Series X|S players eagerly anticipating their turn, Larian Studios’ CEO and director, Swen Vincke, recently shared the good news that the RPG will launch on Xbox Series X|S before December. The team has made significant progress and is “actually very close” to completing the game.
Vincke stated, “It’s 2023. And 2023 is narrowing, so it’s already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November… So, as fast as we can honestly.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 has already made a significant impression on players. Our editor-in-chief, Jake, praised the highly-anticipated RPG, awarding it a perfect five out of five stars. Jake described his 50-hour journey with a single character as just a glimpse into the vast scale and depth of the game.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 shines as one of the best RPGs, if you’re on the hunt for new adventures with companions, we’ve also compiled a list of the best MMOs to explore.
