Asus Unveils 135-Inch MicroLED Monitor for Creative Professionals

Asus Launches ProArt Cinema PQ07, the Largest MicroLED Display with Impressive Brightness, but with Limitations

Asus is introducing its colossal 135-inch MicroLED monitor, the ProArt Cinema PQ07, targeting creative professionals in industries such as post-production and visual effects (VFX). While this professional-grade display delivers near-infinite contrast ratios akin to OLED screens, it distinguishes itself by not being constrained by auto-brightness limiters (ABLs).

The absence of ABLs allows the ProArt Cinema PQ07 to maintain a strikingly bright 2,000-nit full-field brightness level, as reported by Notebook Check. By comparison, LG’s latest OLED TVs can achieve 2,100 nits, but they are subject to ABLs that automatically dim the display when showcasing a predominantly white or bright image.

The ProArt Cinema PQ07 stands out as the largest MicroLED monitor currently available on the market. It offers modular flexibility, allowing users to combine multiple units for an expanded display surface area.

However, this impressive display also comes with several limitations. Beyond its substantial $200,000 price tag, its color gamut covers 95% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, falling just short of the levels achieved by top-tier OLED displays. Additionally, its refresh rate may be capped at 60Hz, whereas many professional-grade monitors offer refresh rates as high as 240Hz.

While not the largest display option available, alternatives like Samsung’s “The Wall,” designed for virtual production, serve different purposes and are more suitable for digital signage applications. LG’s Direct View LED display, ranging from 81 inches to a massive 325 inches, caters to home theater installations but is not specifically tailored for professional use in the manner of Asus’ ProArt PQ07.
