Apple’s Major League Soccer streaming service now has a release date and, more significantly, a price. The MLS Season Pass will be available on February 1st, 2023, for $99 each season, or $15 per month, according to the firm. Apple TV+ users, as you would expect, pay $79 each season and $13 per month. The regular season starts on February 25th, so you’ll have plenty of time to make a decision before the competition begins in earnest.
The MLS Season Pass will be included in full-season ticket packages. However, you will not always be required to subscribe. Some MLS and Leagues Cup matches will be free to Apple TV+ subscribers, while others (such as those from the “MLS is Back” opening weekend) will be fully free to watch.
The attraction, as stated in June, is the comprehensive coverage. Every match, including the playoffs and League Cup, may be seen without fear of regional blackouts. If you miss the live action, you may watch replays, highlights, and other information. MLS games will be accessible on the web and via the Apple TV app. There will be commentary in English, Spanish, and (for Canadian teams) French, and you may also listen to a team’s local radio broadcast.
The launch kicks off a 10-year partnership between Apple and the MLS. It’s also a huge step forward in Apple’s sports approach. Previously, Apple’s live sports offerings were restricted to free, weekly Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders. Now, the firm is broadcasting whole seasons and charging for them in the same way that the leagues do. MLS Season Pass may not be as appealing as NFL+, but it may put pressure on Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, and other streaming services that use live sports as a selling factor.
