Apple’s iOS 17 Wallet App Could Benefit from Adopting This Amazing New Feature from Google

Google Wallet executive Jenny Cheng shared valuable insights in a blog post, stating that although Google Wallet already supports a wide range of pass types, there are still some passes that are not easily saveable to mobile devices. For instance, Cheng mentions her physical gym membership card, a small item prone to being misplaced. However, with Google’s upcoming update, users will be able to capture a photo of their card and create a secure, digital version within the Wallet app. This convenient functionality will extend to any pass containing a barcode or QR code, including transit QR tickets, parking passes, and e-commerce return QR codes.

The prospect of similar features coming to iOS 17’s Wallet app is exciting. Imagine being able to effortlessly create digital versions of QR codes for gym memberships, car parking, doctor’s appointments, or workplace access passes. Not only would this lighten the load of physical wallets, but it would also provide a practical solution to prevent the loss of important paper-based passes.
