Apple improves the battery indication in the latest iOS 16.1 beta

Apple’s new iOS 16.1 beta addresses a significant issue regarding iOS 16’s battery percentage indicator: the battery symbol will now be filled in depending on how much charge it truly has. The battery % remains inside the symbol, but the overall effect is much closer to what it should have been from the start.

The better battery status indicator isn’t the only change. When you start charging your iPhone, iOS 16.1 beta 2 might display the battery % above the time on your lock screen.

We don’t know when Apple intends to release iOS 16.1, but fingers crossed it happens soon. The company is also working on fixes for issues that have arisen since the release of iOS 16 and the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro last weeks, such as frequent “allow paste” prompts (a problem that reportedly has been resolved in the new iOS 16.1 beta) and unexpected camera shake in some apps when using the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
