Recent reports indicate that the launch of the much-anticipated OnePlus Open foldable phone is now slated for September. Additionally, parent company Oppo is rumored to introduce the OnePlus Find N3 Flip in China, further adding to the foldable smartphone lineup.
The OnePlus Open’s anticipated release comes as a result of a report by Yogesh Brar, which follows earlier indications that the launch had been delayed by a few months. The foldable device, referred to as the OnePlus Open, is expected to debut sometime between September and October. This delay is attributed to the ongoing patent case involving Oppo and Nokia in Germany. As a result of this case, Oppo has adjusted its presence in Europe, potentially impacting the launch of products like the Oppo Find X6 Pro in regions such as the UK. OnePlus, as an affiliate of Oppo, is also influenced by this development.
While OnePlus has officially announced the name of the foldable device, it has refrained from sharing specific details beyond confirming a launch sometime this year.
In tandem with the OnePlus Open’s impending release, rumors suggest that the Oppo Find N3 Flip is set to launch in China on August 29. Earlier leaks have presented renders and drawings of this upcoming foldable, showcasing multiple cameras, including a telephoto lens. If these renders prove accurate, the Oppo Find N3 Flip would be the first clamshell-style foldable to feature a telephoto lens. This launch adds to the array of foldable devices entering the market, including offerings like the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Google Pixel Fold, collectively dubbed the “Hot Foldable Summer” by tech enthusiasts.
These releases join an expanding selection of foldables from various manufacturers, such as Motorola’s Razr 40 and 40 Ultra, the Honor Magic V2, and Xiaomi’s alternatives to the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Considering OnePlus’ track record of delivering impressive devices, including the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Pad, if this level of excellence carries over to the OnePlus Open, it could potentially disrupt the foldable smartphone market and usher in a new era of innovation.
