The developers behind Alan Wake 2 have swiftly addressed player concerns by releasing the game’s first update, which is designed to tackle bugs and known issues across all platforms, including consoles and PC. Alan Wake 2, a survival horror title praised for its eerie atmosphere, faced criticism for technical glitches, prompting developers to act promptly to enhance the overall gaming experience.
Despite receiving a generally positive reception, Alan Wake 2 wasn’t immune to technical problems. Some players encountered bugs, such as the vexing issue of Saga Anderson’s case wall glitching, as well as a handful of game-breaking bugs, like black screens hindering progress. Consequently, these recent updates are a vital initial step in resolving these issues and ensuring a smoother gaming experience.
Remedy Entertainment has now revealed the official patch notes for Alan Wake 2, and each update is tailored to the respective platform:
- Xbox Series X/S (Version 1.0.0.4)
- PS5 (Version 1.00.05)
- PC (Version 1.0.6)
While all these updates primarily focus on rectifying undisclosed bugs, the PC patch goes a step further by changing the error message that appears when third-party applications impede the game from launching. The Xbox update, on the other hand, addresses unique and UI-related graphical problems. In the announcement post, the development team stressed their commitment to seeking player feedback to resolve other technical issues. They are already aware of a specific audio bug on Xbox and assured players that it’s actively being worked on. The update was rolled out for PC and PS5 over the weekend and became available for Xbox Series X/S on Monday.
While this update primarily revolves around bug fixes, fans of Alan Wake 2 can anticipate more exciting additions in the near future. Recently, Remedy confirmed that the game will receive a New Game+ mode, allowing players to retain their upgraded weapons, access higher difficulty levels, and unlock new content through an “alternative narrative.”
In addition to these updates, Alan Wake 2 is set to receive free DLC, which the game’s director, Sam Lake, has described as substantial but has not yet divulged specific details. Furthermore, the game will feature two paid expansions titled “Night Springs” and “Lake House.”
