Chuck Beaver, the story producer for Dead Space 3, has revealed his candid desire to undertake a significant overhaul of the game’s main storyline if given the opportunity. In a recent interview with CaptainBribo on YouTube, Beaver, who has since moved on from EA and is currently a principal narrative designer at Scopely, shared his thoughts on the iconic horror franchise.
According to a report by PCGamesN, Beaver expressed his willingness to maintain the essence of Dead Space 3’s lore while essentially starting from a clean slate. He stated, “Now in this remake territory, I would redo Dead Space 3 almost completely… I would keep the lore beat that it’s predicated on, keep the lore you find out, I would have Ellie there but a different relationship… I would redo the entire main story. I would just throw away and rewrite, with what we’ve talked about.”
Elaborating on his ideas, Beaver revealed his intention to entirely remove the love triangle subplot involving Isaac, Ellie, and Robert. Instead, he envisioned focusing on the aftermath of “broken Isaac” from the conclusion of Dead Space 2. He explained, “He tried to do the truth, it broke him. Now we’re in the consequences of him being broken.”
It’s important to note that Beaver’s comments do not confirm any official plans for a Dead Space 3 rewrite. Earlier this year, a faithful remake of the original 2008 Dead Space game was released on PC and current-gen consoles, garnering positive reviews for its modernized survival horror experience. However, EA has yet to confirm whether it intends to revisit and remake the remaining entries in the series.
