Late last year, Waymo acquired a Driverless Pilot permit from the state of California, putting the alphabet-owned firm one step closer to starting its autonomous taxi service in the state. Waymo has announced intentions to begin testing autonomous vehicles in Los Angeles, increasing its service area. According to Engadget, the test will be the first time that completely driverless vehicles will wander the streets of Los Angeles, adding that owing to successful testing in San Francisco, the business has been able to roll out autonomous drivers in other locations with “little-to-no on-board technical effort.”
