Tactics Ogre: Reborn for Nintendo Switch and PC look to share a vital feature for players: keyboard and mouse compatibility. The addition of keyboard and mouse capabilities for both platforms in Tactics Ogre: Reborn is only one of several enhancements made by Square Enix for the upgraded remaster.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a remastered version of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, the PlayStation Portable remake of the classic tactical RPG from the 1990s. For the remaster, Square Enix included additional features and elements such as extra goals, better companion AI, ally revives, and training matches. A number of gameplay changes were also implemented to flesh out the tactical RPG experience. Square Enix gives another control option for Switch gamers outside the regular Joy-Con and Pro Controller compatibility, as one Tactics Ogre: Reborn player found.
Reddit user u/solwhitehorn found Tactics Ogre: Reborn for Switch supports a keyboard and mouse much like the PC version when entering the controller settings menu. In the menu, keyboard shortcuts are presented, enabling the player to assign two keys to one action. Many of the shortcuts in Tactics Ogre Reborn are left empty by default, but a player may edit them by plugging in a keyboard and mouse. To activate the control option, connect the keyboard and mouse directly to the Switch dock’s USB ports when the game is running in docked mode. According to u/solwhitehorn, a USB dongle and wireless Dell keyboard and mouse combination functioned well during Tactics Ogre: Reborn gaming.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is one of the few Switch games that supports both keyboard and mouse inputs. Fortnite, Quake, the original DOOM, and DOOM 2 are among the few titles that natively support the control arrangement on Switch. Nintendo’s Game Builder Garage includes mouse controls to help with the drag-and-drop process of generating programmes.
The keyboard and mouse functionality in Tactics Ogre: Reborn is beneficial for gamers who like the control scheme seen in tactics and strategy games such as Civilization 6 and XCOM. Furthermore, the feature increases accessibility by allowing players to customise keyboard shortcuts. Because the Switch can identify devices through USB and Bluetooth, more games may offer the option in the future.
Along with the recent release of Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Square Enix has released the action RPG Valkyrie Elysium on PC. Other upcoming Square Enix titles include Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, Dragon Quest Treasures, and Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered.
