Youtube set to get a new look for their video player on iOS and Android

YouTube is rolling out a new UI for full-screen players in mobile apps. This makes it easy to like and dislike videos (private, of course), view comments, and share what you’re watching. In older versions, most of these features were hidden behind swipe-up gestures in the Other Videos section. In the new version, these features are centered in the front and center, and the associated videos are moved to the corner buttons.

Changes are only visible if you watch the video in full-screen mode. The app looks almost like watching a video in portrait mode. However, this had the advantage of easy access to share buttons and other controls. You can see that in landscape mode as well.

Also, you can now easily access the mode where you can view comments with the video in landscape mode. Before the new UI, you had to tap the comment pane in portrait mode to open it and switch to full-screen mode. You can now access it by tapping the comment button.

The new UI is set to arrive on the two platforms on Monday, according to official sources from within the company.
