YouTube Kids is now accessible on more than a few gadgets in your living room, but not in the manner you may think. According to 9to5Google, Google is bringing the YouTube Kids experience to gaming consoles, Roku devices, and more smart TVs through an upgrade to the main YouTube app. You can access the child-friendly experience without needing to move to another app if you switch to a YouTube Kids profile. This also makes it easy to go back to the entire app after your child has done viewing.
The new technique will be available in the “coming few weeks,” according to Google. When your child is ready for grown-up access, you may erase their accounts via families.youtube.com, albeit the firm notes that this will wipe their profiles across all platforms.
YouTube Kids is available for Android TV, Apple TV, and Fire TV, as well as LG and Samsung smart TVs. This change opens up the walled-off experience to a far larger audience, which is essential if you’re worried about your child seeing adult material or thinly disguised commercial pitches. You’ll still want to keep an eye on your child’s watching habits, but you may not have to urge them towards a computer or tablet.
