World’s Most Powerful Mobile Workstation Unveiled, Boasting 192 Cores, Up to 3TB Storage, and Capability for Six Monitors

MediaWorkstation, the boutique PC vendor, has launched an upgraded version of its a-X2P Rome-based portable mobile workstation, which it claims is arguably the most powerful integrated transportable computer in the world. The refreshed model, designed for “highly multi-threaded applications in the field,” is closer in design to an all-in-one PC and doesn’t have an internal battery.

The new model has been upgraded to support AMD’s EPYC Genoa based on Zen 4, allowing for two EPYC 9654 CPUs with 96 cores each and up to 12 x 256GB memory modules, totaling 3TB of DDR5 memory. It also supports up to two full-height, full-size GPUs, one M.2 NVMe boot SSD, and five storage drives, all cooled by six fans and an unknown-capacity power supply unit.

The a-X2P can be used with up to six 24-inch monitors with up to 4K and 1000 nits brightness and comes with a touchpad and heavy-duty mechanical keyboard that folds up onto the display for transport. It also includes a thick, sewn vinyl wheeled carrying case.

While the workstation comes with plenty of ports, including two 10GbE connectors, it lacks Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connections and wireless connectivity options. It features five 5.25-inch drive bays, seven slots for PCIe devices, and legacy ports such as DVI and PS2.

The a-X2P is expected to cost over $200,000 for a fully kitted top-end mobile workstation that will rival any desktop workstation PC or video editing PC. The company also offers other portable workstation PCs, including Xeon-based and single-core AMD EPYC-based ones.
