Wordle has been transformed into a multiplayer board game

Wordle, the popular online puzzle game, is being adapted into a multiplayer board game. The New York Times, which purchased Wordle earlier this year, is collaborating with Hasbro to bring Wordle from the digital to the physical world later this year with Wordle: The Party Game.

Wordle rose to prominence in part because, at least for a short time, it appeared that everyone was sharing their results on Twitter. However, solving a Wordle puzzle is typically a solitary endeavor. Wordle, on the other hand, becomes a group activity in Wordle: The Party Game.

One player comes up with a five-letter word that the other players must try to guess first. Following the guesses, the word-thinker will slide translucent yellow and green tiles over the correct letters. You’ll make your guesses with dry-erase markers on small dry-erase boards, so once a round is finished, simply wipe the boards clean and start over.

Wordle: The Party Game will be available in North America in October, and you can preorder it for $19.99 starting Thursday. The game’s website states that it will be released on October 1st, but it is an estimate that is subject to change.
