Windows 11 users report SATA SSD bug: Microsoft investigating

The bug causes internal SATA drives, encompassing both traditional hard drives and solid-state drives (SSDs) connected via a SATA interface, to be erroneously identified as removable media in the Windows taskbar. This misidentification occurs despite the fact that the drives are firmly installed and meant to function as permanent storage components.

Microsoft clarifies the technicality behind the bug, stating, “Whether or not a device is considered removable is determined by your system’s BIOS and how it marks the various SATA ports on the motherboard.”
