What You Need to Know About Google’s Workspace Apps Update

Google is set to roll out new updates to its Workspace apps over the next few weeks. The changes include a redesign of Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides to streamline their user interfaces and emphasize the most commonly used tools. The company is drawing from its Material Design 3 language to implement the updates.

In addition to the design changes, Google is introducing several new features. For example, Drive is getting a multi select toolbar that allows users to share, download, move, and delete multiple files simultaneously. It is also adding a file filtering option that enables users to sort files by type without having to search for them first.

Docs is getting an integrated stopwatch feature to help users stay focused, and emoji reactions for comments to enable users to emphasize or upvote a response. There will also be a new calendar invite template.

Sheets is getting a preview function for Google Maps links, which could be useful for logistics tracking and event planning. Users can also add dates more easily by using date shortcuts such as @today, @yesterday, @tomorrow, and @date. Additionally, users can add stocks, mutual funds, and currencies using the @-mention function and typing in a company’s name, stock ticker, or currency.

These new updates demonstrate Google’s ongoing efforts to improve its Workspace apps and provide a better user experience for its customers.
