Following his dominant performance in the sprint race, Verstappen voiced his concerns about the incident over the team radio, stating, “Yeah, good race, the exit of Turn 1, that was not really nice, that could have been a really big shunt. We need to have a chat about that, that’s not okay.”
Verstappen and Perez engaged in a discussion shortly after the race, aiming to resolve the issue. Perez explained that he had not seen Verstappen alongside him due to a poor exit from Turn 1. He added that he tried to protect his position but, once he realized Verstappen was there, he opened up the door and gave the position back at Turn 2.
