This summer, Dyson will introduce an updated Airwrap

It’s difficult to avoid the Dyson Airwrap online. On TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, beauty influencers extol its virtues. However, you may want to wait off on purchasing one. Dyson revealed on Thursday that a new version of the Airwrap will be available later this summer — and this one will be capable of curling hair in both directions. The new Airwrap will retail for $599 with all attachments.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original Airwrap, it’s a hair curler that uses the Coanda effect rather than heat. It pulls hair onto the barrel via a high-pressure motor, allowing users to style their hair “with air” while minimizing the risk of heat damage. If you’ve ever seen it in action, it nearly appears as though hair clings onto the barrel by magic.

However, one of the primary drawbacks of the original Airwrap was the requirement to swap out attachments in order to alter curl patterns. (For instance, you do not always want your hair to curl in the same direction throughout your head.) However, the Airwrap’s second version will allow you to change directions by twisting the flow switch on the barrel’s tip. The bi-directional barrels will be available in 30mm, 40mm, 30mm, 40mm, and 20mm lengths.

Along with bi-directional curling, the new Airwrap is said to be speedier and come with a variety of new attachments. There is a new Coanda smoothing dryer that appears to bring the Flyaway attachment from the Dyson Supersonic to the Airwrap. The goal is to transition your hair from wet to damp while while concealing flyaways. Additionally, there are strong and gentle brushes available for straighter styles.

If you’ve already paid top dollar for the original Airwrap, there is some good news for you. You can upgrade to the new accessories without purchasing a new Airwrap. However, the exact date of its rollout this summer is yet unknown.

Dyson’s hair tools have historically been on the pricey side. Indeed, the majority of assessments focus on the topic of whether the technology included within the gadgets is worth the several hundred dollars each one costs. The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer retails for $400, while the Corrale straightener retails for $500. However, despite its high price, the Airwrap is continually sold out. However, one thing is certain: beauty influencers are currently losing their marbles due to the news.
