Therabody Teams Up with Garmin for Smart Recovery Coaching

Therabody is making their massage guns smarter by connecting them to your fitness data. It’s a clever move that might actually help athletes recover better.

The company just announced their new Coach tool at CES 2025. What’s cool about it is how it pulls data from apps you might already use – Strava, Apple Health, Google Fit, and especially Garmin Connect. The system looks at your workouts and creates specific recovery plans for your Theragun Pro Plus or Prime Plus.

I looked into how it works: Say you spend an afternoon rock climbing. The app notices this activity and suggests using your Theragun on specific muscle groups – like a one-minute session for your forearms. It’s all automatic, based on what you’ve been doing.

The partnership with Garmin goes deeper than the other apps. Therabody’s scientists are using data from Garmin watches to track things like stress levels and energy (through their Body Battery feature). They’re studying how their recovery tools affect athletic performance, which could lead to better recommendations for athletes at all levels.

Right now, this feature is in beta testing. You’ll need either a Theragun Pro Plus or Prime Plus to try it out. If you’re interested in smarter recovery tools, this might be worth watching – especially if you already use a Garmin watch.

What I find most intriguing is how they’re using real workout data to guide recovery. Instead of generic massage routines, you get suggestions based on your actual activities. We’ll see if this personalized approach makes a difference in how athletes recover.
