Honor has launched new Earbuds 3 Pro that integrates temperature monitoring technology, in addition to its 100W charging-capable Magic 4 phone. This technology, according to Honor, is an industry first, which owners will be able to experience once the €199 buds are introduced.
Temperature monitoring, among other signals, has become increasingly crucial in following someone’s health throughout the pandemic, and infrared ear thermometers are already readily accessible for checking your temperature at home. Wearables with temperature tracking appear to be on the horizon, and the concept apparently attracted Apple’s attention as it worked on improvements to its AirPods.
Wearers can activate temperature monitoring by tapping the buds three times, which includes continuous measuring and a “bad temperature alarm.” However, a footnote states that the device is “not for any medical use” and that it is just for demonstration purposes until it is brought into line with relevant standards.
While Honor didn’t reveal many details about the earbuds during its announcement at MWC 2022, it did confirm a few additional functions, like temperature tracking. Basic characteristics of the Earbuds 3 Pro include adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC), which adapts to the wearer’s listening environment. The earbuds will include an 11mm dynamic driver with better sound details and bass, as well as quick charging that can enable two hours of music playback with just five minutes of charging. They promise to have up to 24 hours of battery life before their charging case is totally exhausted.
Though the Earbuds 3 Pro is unlikely to be offered in the United States, the device could be a sign that the strategy is feasible.
