Netflix has taken out the ability to cast shows and movies from its mobile app to most modern TVs and streaming devices, directing users to rely on built in TV apps and remotes instead. Casting only remains on some older Chromecast and Google Cast devices, and even there access is limited by subscription tier.
Disney’s channels have vanished from YouTube TV after both companies failed to reach an agreement over new rates. While Disney accuses Google of undercutting the market, YouTube TV says Disney is using blackouts as leverage to demand higher fees. The real losers are the subscribers, once again stuck between two giants fighting for control of the streaming business.
