Disney and YouTube TV have ended a two?week carriage dispute and signed a new multi?year distribution agreement that restores ABC, ESPN, FX, Disney Channel, National Geographic, and other Disney networks to around 10 million YouTube TV subscribers in the US. Live channels and library recordings are being re?enabled, with movie and TV purchases expected to follow once technical updates are complete.
The standoff between Disney and Google over YouTube TV carriage rights is now spilling into the local broadcast market. Sinclair says its ABC stations have already lost $1 million and confirms the FCC has opened an investigation into what it describes as harmful distribution practices.
