Apart from the MLB.TV subscription, T-Mobile and MLB are also collaborating on an automated ball-strike (ABS) system for Minor League Baseball (MiLB) players and officials. T-Mobile will power the ABS system with its 5G Private Mobile Network during select minor-league games, allowing for enhanced review, challenge, and analysis of calls. This move follows MLB’s previous experimentation with robot umpires in the independent Atlantic League since 2019, with plans to potentially introduce the system to the major leagues by 2024.
