Sony Releases New Audio Tool for Game Developers

Sony has launched “Gaming Virtualizer by 360 Reality Audio,” a new software for game creators. This tool helps produce spatial sound for games played with headphones.

The software works with Wwise, a popular audio system used by many game developers. It allows for easy creation of 3D sound that feels natural and responds quickly.

Sony developed this tool to meet growing demand for spatial audio in games, especially for mobile and PC players using headphones. It uses technology from Sony’s 360 Reality Audio music system.

Key features include:

  1. Efficient processing for spatial sound, even on less powerful devices like phones
  2. Natural, precise audio positioning with smooth movement
  3. Integration with Wwise for streamlined development
  4. Ability to adjust individual sounds for better creative control

Several major game companies are testing the software, including COLOPL, Cygames, GungHo, Niantic, and Square Enix.

Developers praise the tool’s improved sound positioning, easy integration, and ability to work well on mobile devices. They believe it will help deliver more immersive audio experiences to a wider audience.
