Snap claims to have reached a new milestone, with more than 750 million monthly active users. The corporation has just said that 375 million people use the app every day. Although this is a long cry from Facebook’s 2.96 billion monthly and 2 billion daily active users, Snapchat’s viewership numbers are increasing. During an investor day event, Snap said that it expects “a route for Snapchat to reach over 1 billion consumers in the next two to three years.”
To break those numbers down further, the majority of Snapchat’s audience is located outside of North America, where it currently has more than 150 million monthly active users. According to Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, the app covers more than three-quarters of 13- to 34-year-olds in over 20 countries, and users upload more than 5 billion snaps every day. Yet, little over seven months after its launch, the Snapchat+ subscription service has over 2.5 million customers. Every month, almost 300 million individuals use the Snap Map.
There are much-needed signals of optimism for Snap after a difficult 2022. The company’s stock dropped by more than 80% between late 2021 and the middle of last year, when it lay off around 1,300 staff. After four months, it also discontinued its Pixy selfie drone.
