Report Suggests Toyota to Introduce Sporty GRMN Variant of the Prius

We had not anticipated like the fresh new Prius. It is, after all, a Prius. But then Toyota presented an unexpectedly attractive design. We had our first chance to drive it late last year, and we were pleased. The fact that the new Prius drives faster than the old one does not suggest that it is more pleasurable to drive. But what if the progenitors of the GR Corolla created a car that is really sporty? It may seem far-fetched, but it might very well happen.

The Drive has unearthed a story from Japan’s Best Car claiming that a GRMN-tuned Prius would appear somewhere within the next year and a half. However, if it is disclosed in 2023, it will be towards the end of the year. According to reports, the GRMN Prius will have a firmer chassis, stronger brakes, an updated suspension, and a few notable interior changes.

There is no information on how much extra energy it will produce, but Best Car thinks it will be mostly based on the plug-in hybrid Prius Prime. We’re not sure how likely that is, but we agree with The Drive that Toyota should just go ahead and toss the GR Corolla’s engine in there. If a GR Prius is in the works.

And this is the big question right here. Is this study really based on solid data? There is no way to inform. On the one hand, Best Car previously told us that the next-generation GR86 would most likely be a turbocharged hybrid, which is a crazy rumour. However, as The Drive discovered, it also accurately forecasted the GR Corolla.

We’ll envision it when we see it at this level. But, at the same time, we need it to be true, even if the hotrod Prius doesn’t have the GR Corolla’s engine. The 2023 Prius Prime already has 220 horsepower, so a little more power and better handling would most certainly make the Prius a fuel-efficient blast to drive.
