Effective as of October 9, 2023, Private Internet Access (PIA) has significantly expanded its network by introducing access to seven additional countries, with South Korea among them. In a bid to offer an even more extensive and user-friendly VPN service, the provider has extended its dedicated IP locations, now encompassing popular cities like Brussels, Stockholm, Houston, and San Jose (Silicon Valley).
This expansion marks the latest enhancement to PIA’s already robust network, which boasts over 20,000 servers. PIA’s decision to undergo this “substantial expansion” is a direct response to the requests of its valued customers who sought broader VPN coverage in specific areas.
PIA is enthusiastic about the growth of its global network, which has now stretched from 84 to a total of 91 countries across the world. Every new location was carefully selected, and the provider has introduced seven fresh country locations: Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nepal, Peru, Uruguay, and South Korea.
The surge in demand for enhanced VPN coverage is a primary driving force behind PIA’s network expansion. The focus on strengthening its network in regions spanning South America and Asia underscores PIA’s commitment to ensuring a free and open internet for users worldwide.
Himmat Bains, Head of Product at PIA, emphasized the provider’s dedication to meeting the evolving demands of its users, saying, “Our primary focus is to think about how we can best meet the changing demands of our users, and these additions are a result of their requests. We also took into account regions where we saw a need for more country options and carefully considered the unique use cases for each location.”
PIA takes pride in providing comprehensive VPN coverage across the entire United States. In July 2022, the provider initiated its “50 Servers in 50 States” campaign, aimed at enhancing online privacy and convenience for citizens throughout the country.
The expansion doesn’t end here, as PIA has also broadened its dedicated IP offerings to include well-known hubs such as Brussels, Stockholm, Houston, and San Jose (Silicon Valley). Unlike static IP addresses, a dedicated IP grants users a unique and exclusive IP address, eliminating the need for recurring verification processes. This is especially useful for accessing secure services like online banking platforms, which often require a fixed IP address.
It’s worth noting that PIA offers dedicated IP services for an additional fee, starting at less than $2 per month with its three-year subscription.
These announcements coincide with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, underscoring PIA’s mission to enhance internet security, accessibility, and freedom by combating censorship and surveillance. Himmat Bains reiterated PIA’s commitment to safeguarding user online activities and protecting personal data, saying, “At Private Internet Access, our core commitment is to deliver the highest level of online privacy and security. We continue to look for ways to give our users the extra flexibility and accessibility they need in a rapidly changing digital landscape. As always, we remain dedicated to safeguarding our users’ online activities and protecting their personal data.”
