Preorders for Asus’ ROG 6 Android gaming phones are now open in North America

Following the original release in the UK and Europe, Asus has made the new ROG Phone 6 and Phone 6 Pro available for presale in North America. The newest edition of this gaming-focused smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, which is a beefed-up version of the same CPU found in several current-gen premium Android smartphones like the Samsung S22 Lineup and the OnePlus 10. The ROG Phone 6 also boasts a minimum of 12GB of RAM and a 165Hz refresh rate screen with a resolution of 2448 x 1080 to cement its place as a go-to device for mobile gaming.

The ROG Phone 6 standard is available in two distinct variants. The cheapest model, which costs $999, comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The enhanced version, which costs $1,099, adds 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The ROG Phone 6 Pro has 18GB of RAM and 512GB of storage but is otherwise similar to the ordinary variants; however, it costs $1,299 more.

All ROG Phone 6 variants include a 6.78-inch OLED display that supports HDR10 Plus. The ROG Phone 6 range is available in either black or white hues, with lots of RGB lighting to showcase your gamer credentials to everyone around you.

The Asus ROG Phone 6’s overall specifications reflect the overkill attitude we saw in our evaluation of the ROG Phone 5, giving what looks to be a completely decked-out phone for those who can stomach the price.

The ROG Phone 6’s gamer reputation extends to its comprehensive ecosystem of accessories, which comes with the introduction of the ROG Phone 6, including a specialized controller and an active cooling system. The ROG Kunai 3 gamepad is an ingenious peripheral that resembles Nintendo’s Joy-Con controllers for the Nintendo Switch. The controllers may be utilized as a stand-alone system or fastened to the accompanying case for the ROG Phone 6. The Kunai 3 includes all of the same inputs as a regular dual analog stick controller, plus a pair of rear paddle inputs. The Kunai 3 is presently available for $149.99 through the ASUS shop.

The AeroActive Cooler 6, which is simply a huge, RGB-enabled heatsink that mount to the rear of the ROG Phone 6, is a more distinctive accessory that works with the ROG Phone 6. The AeroActive Cooler 6’s architecture will be recognizable to anybody who has seen a heatsink for their desktop CPU since it employs a series of thermally conductive surfaces to disperse heat through a cooling fan. The cooler is powered by a USB-C connection from the ROG Phone 6, however, it can be adjusted to get the optimal amount of cooling. The AeroActive cooler costs $99.99 and has a built-in kickstand and RGB lights, although it’s unclear if it can be used with the ROG Kunai 3 controller.
