Pixel Watch 2 Specs Leak: A Mix of Concern and Intrigue Among Enthusiasts

The specifications for the Pixel Watch 2, codenamed “Eos,” have reportedly surfaced in a recent leak from the “Google Play Console device catalog,” an official resource for Android developers. The leak suggests that the Pixel Watch 2 will be equipped with the Qualcomm SW5100 chip, likely referring to the base model of the Snapdragon W5 SoC (system on a chip).

However, there is a Snapdragon W5 Plus version available, found in devices like the TicWatch Pro 5, which includes a second co-processor. While the leaked information indicates that the Pixel Watch 2 may have a custom co-processor similar to the first-generation Pixel Watch, it still uses the base Snapdragon W5 chip. This decision might impact the smartwatch’s battery life negatively, as the Snapdragon W5 Plus is known for its energy efficiency and ability to potentially double a smartwatch’s battery life.

The leak also suggests that the Pixel Watch 2 will come pre-installed with Android 13, indicating that it will launch with Wear OS 4. Additionally, there’s evidence of a new “Backup” feature, which is expected to be a key upgrade of Wear OS 4. This feature would allow users to securely transfer their data from an old watch to a new one.

Other details from the leak include a screen resolution of 384 x 384 pixels with a screen density of 320 ppi, which matches the first Pixel Watch. The RAM remains at 2GB, with no upgrade mentioned.

It’s important to note that while these specifications have surfaced from an official source, they should still be taken with some caution until officially confirmed by Google.
